This castle has 7 floors and 204 rooms. Acquired by René of Cossé in 1502, it is today the residence of the 13^th Duke of Brissac.

This has been the residence of the Earls of Anjou since the IX^th century. This powerful family has ruled part of Europe, England with Henri II^nd Plantagenet in 1154, and from 1266 to 1480, part of Italy with the Kingdom of Naples, Croatia, Hungary and Poland.
The castle harbours the famous tapestries of Apocalypse ordered by Louis II^nd of Anjou.
